New Business In Warsaw Offers Golfing Simulators

By Jackie Gorski-

Today was the first day The Golf Club of Warsaw, 318 Enterprise Drive, Warsaw, was open.

It was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce.

Owner Thad Wallin said there are three golf simulators that use state-of-the-art technology. Each simulator has four high-speed cameras that captures 4,000 images per second.

“It’s the best simulator technology you can have,” he said.

Today, professionals don’t practice without this type of technology because, he said, it shows them extra stats such as spin and smash factor, which is something they can’t get if they are practicing alone outside. For really advanced golfers, the technology can help them improve a lot.

For people just starting out, The Golf Club of Warsaw has a top golf stadium game. He also said if people don’t have their own clubs, The Golf Club of Warsaw has ones they can use, he said.

When asked how he got into the business, he said he lived in South Korea for 12 years and worked for the South Korean government. He said South Korea has the most golfers per capita in the world. Most of them play indoors on golf simulators.

Wallin started learning how to play golf about five years ago on golf simulators. Some of the ideas came from his experience in South Korea.

There is a big golfing community in the area, he said, so he hopes to provide a place for people to practice when they’re getting off work or the weather’s bad. He hopes to bring new golfers and nongolfers to the game in an experience that may be more comfortable than going out on the course. He also hopes to expand the opportunities of what people can do during the evening in Warsaw.

Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The hourly rate is $35 per hour.

Wallin recommends making a reservation either by visiting the website at thegolfclubofwarsaw.com or by calling 574-314-6727.
