By Staff Report-

Live Well Kosciusko announced Monday they were awarded an Accelerator Initiative Planning Grant through the Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA).

The Accelerator Initiative was launched by DMHA using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds designated through HEA1001. This initiative aims to support small and grassroots organizations who are providing access to resources for mental health and wellness to underserved communities in Indiana, including people who live in rural and under-resourced geographic areas of the state, according to a news release from Live Well.

The Accelerator Initiative is guided by the knowledge that grassroots organizations are more powerful when they are adequately resourced and creatively structured to sustain their work, the release states. Through this initiative, small organizations and their leaders will have access to resources and relationships designed to support growth in the ways they envision.

Live Well looks forward to using this grant to further their mission to transform Kosciusko County into a thriving place to live, learn, work, play and visit, according to the release. Currently,  they are leading five different projects to meet the needs of the physical, financial, social, career purpose, and community well-being of Kosciusko residents. Additionally, the organization serves as the lead agency for the Cancer coalition, which implements the Indiana Cancer Control Plan in Kosciusko County, and the Breathe Well coalition, which empowers residents of all ages to end their dependence on tobacco products.

While Live Well is excited to work toward realizing the organization’s vision in cooperation with DMHA, they know that their work is ultimately sustained through the resilience and strength of the people that they serve every day, according to the release.

Their work with Accelerator will begin in January 2023 and continue through 2024.
