Twenty large boxes of snacks, balls, LEGOs and more were delivered Friday by Zimmer Biomet employees to the Kosciusko YMCA Kids Club as a way to give back this holiday season.

This is the third year Zimmer Biomet has done its Give Back event. Zimmer Biomet managers, supervisors and team members split into teams to gather supplies and other  donations to help in YMCA Kids Club’s needs. Each team was given a list of supplies.

Angela Krebs, human resources coordinator - operations, Zimmer Biomet, said each of the boxes had a school’s name for the school it was intended for.

The supplies will go straight to the Kids Club.

Stacy Thomas, director of operations at Kosciusko YMCA, said the Kids Club provides care for students before and after schools. It’s within elementary schools within Warsaw Community Schools and a site at Mentone Elementary School.

Rachel Hardy, child care and inclusive program director, said staff members plan different activities for students during the program, including games and crafts.

Zimmer Biomet supervisor Cory Krulik said Zimmer Biomet employees were there to recognize an important organization in the area.

“You provide a service to the children and the greater community as a whole. We really appreciate it,” he said.

Krebs said the Kids Club allows stability for parents and team members.

“It’s something phenomenal. It’s such a great program. I’m glad it’s at the schools. I’m sure that the administration loves that, too, to know that kids are not going to be left alone. They have snacks, people to help with their school work and games and fun. Good role models there,” she said.

She said hopes the YMCA knows how much Zimmer Biomet appreciates them because there are a lot of employees that have kids that are part of the Kids Club and it’s nice knowing while the employee is working, their child is being taken care of.

Thomas said sometimes children are at the Kids Club more than they are at home, so staff are really pouring into them and make sure they’re ready to go in the morning and see how their day went. It helps develop the students’ character.

Hardy said the donation will allow the club to come up with more activities and give the club more opportunities to help students grow.
