Local High School Sports Recaps For 12/13

Triton at Bethany Christian
The Triton boys basketball team fell back to .500 Tuesday night after a 57-46 road loss to Bethany Christian. The Trojans had won their previous two games and are now 3-3 this season.
It was a monster night for Cole Shively, as the junior guard poured in 27 points on 10-21 shooting. Shively also led the team in rebounding, grabbing nine boards. Julian Swanson was Triton’s second leading scorer, finishing his night with seven points to go with a team-high four steals.
The Trojans host Winamac in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference showdown on Friday night.
Lakeland Christian at North Miami
Lakeland Christian won its second game in a row Tuesday night, defeating North Miami 44-40 on Tuesday night. The Cougars are now 5-1 this season.
Seth Martin continued a very impressive senior season by putting up 21 points. Alex Cook also finished in double figures, scoring 12. LCA opens up conference play Saturday evening at home against Bethany Christian.
Girls Basketball
Bethany Christian at Wawasee
Wawasee lost a tough home game Tuesday night at the Hardwood Teepee, falling 32-27 to Bethany Christian. The Warriors are now 7-5 this winter.
Wawasee took a five-point lead into halftime but was only able to score seven points in the second half. Mackenzie Hackleman scored 13 points to pace the Warriors offensively, while also getting it done on the defensive end with four steals and four blocks. Hackleman also grabbed six rebounds, second only to her teammate Olivia Horn’s 10.
Wawasee travels to Warsaw Saturday for a Northern Lakes Conference matchup against the Tigers.
Whitko at West Noble
Whitko improved to .500 Tuesday night with a 49-42 road win at West Noble. The Lady ‘Cats are now 5-5.
Sophomore Braisha Harrison led the team in scoring with 17 points, but junior Kloe Krieg was not far behind with 16 points. Brookelynn Coburn was huge on the defensive end, grabbing 15 rebounds and three steals.
Whitko hosts Three Rivers Conference leading Tippecanoe Valley Saturday night.
