Five Lady Lancers named to All-American Teams

Lucy Schmitt, Madison Tuma and JJ Aalbue all earned recognition as NCCAA First Team All-Americans, and Lea Moessinger and Danae Moriarty were NCCAA Second Team All-Americans.
Aalbue also picked up honorable mention status for NAIA All-American to conclude her Grace career.
Aalbue tallied 11 goals and 13 assists in her senior campaign, finishing first on the team in assists and second in goals. She wraps up her career with 44 goals, No. 5 in team history, and 40 assists, No. 2 in team history. Her point total of 128 is also second-most in Grace’s history.
Tuma scored six goals with an assist from the midfield. Tuma finishes her three-year Grace career ranked No. 11 in career assists, No. 10 in career goals and No. 10 in career points.
Lucy Schmitt was a mainstay for Grace’s defensive line. She was one of two players to start all 24 games, playing nearly 2,000 minutes (1,987) as a key defender. She helped Grace record 12 shutouts for the season.
Moessinger was the other Lady Lancers to start all 24 games. The steady midfielder handed out eight assists and scored a goal as well. She finishes her standout career with nine goals and 23 assists. Her 23 assists are the fifth-most in program history.
Moriarty burst onto the scene as Grace’s leading goal scorer for much of the year. The junior tallied 11 goals and six assists, including four game-winning goals. During the NCCAA tournament, she shifted back to defender for most of Grace’s run as the team dealt with injuries. Grace only surrendered two goals during the four matches of the NCCAA tourney.
Grace had other national awards as well. Aalbue, Lea Fricke, Moessinger, and Lilli Oberhoff were named to the NCCAA All-Tournament Team. Marlene Menzel won the NCCAA’s Select Golden Ball Award for scoring the most goals during the NCCAA tournament, netting seven times in the four matches.
The Lady Lancers completed one of their finest seasons in team history. Under head coach Michael Voss, Grace won its second-most games ever (17), finishing with the second-highest winning percentage ever (17-5-2, .750) and winning its second straight NCCAA national title. The Lady Lancers were ranked in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll throughout the season and earned a berth to their fifth straight NAIA tournament.
