Boys Basketball

Warsaw at Huntington North


Warsaw boys basketball picked up its second win of the year in convincing fashion Saturday, defeating Huntington North 49-35. The Tigers are now 2-1 this season.

Jaxson Gould led all players in scoring by putting up 19 points on 6/13 shooting to go along with two steals. Drew Hackaman was in double figures once again, scoring 13 points and grabbing four rebounds.

Warsaw has a week off before facing off with Fort Wayne North Side on the road Saturday.

West Noble at Wawasee

It took overtime for West Noble to defeat Wawasee Saturday night, coming away with a 59-51 win over the Warriors. Wawasee is now 1-3 this season. The Warriors will look to get back into the win column Saturday against Whitko.

Smith Academy at Whitko

Whitko picked up its first win of the season Saturday night, defeating Smith Academy 61-32 at home. The Wildcats are now 1-3 this season.

Whitko had three players finish the game with double-digit scoring numbers. Riley Harman finished his night with 17 points and five rebounds. Kyler Krull filled the stat sheet, finishing with 16 points, five assists and six boards. Brent Bowers added 12 points for the Wildcats

Whitko travels to Syracuse Saturday for a meeting with Wawasee.

Hamilton Community at Lakeland Christian

Lakeland Christian remains undefeated on the year after a big win over Hamilton Community at home Saturday. The Cougars won the game 58-24 to imrove to 3-0 this winter.

Seth Martin almost outscored his opponents by himself, ending the game with 19 points. Micah Martin scored 12 and both Nate Reimink and Ben Jackson contributed eight points each.

LCA has a quick turnaround, hosting Triton Tuesday night.

Girls Basketball

Westview at Warsaw


The Warsaw Tigers girls basketball team capped off their three games in five days with their third win in as many tries Saturday, defeating Westview 48-41 at the Tiger Den. Warsaw is now 8-2 and plays its next game Wednesday against Carroll.

Wabash at Tippecanoe Valley

Tippecanoe Valley made it five wins in a row Saturday, defeating Wabash 67-29 at home. The Lady Vikings are now 8-2 this season, 2-0 in the Three Rivers Conference.

Three Tippy Valley players ended the game in double figures. Kaydence Mellott led all scorers with 20 points, and not far behind was Lily Ault, who finished with 18. Corinna Stiles had 10 points and six rebounds. Molly Moriarty finished with seven assists.

Tippecanoe Valley hosts Triton on Wednesday.

Manchester at Northfield

Manchester picked up its first conference win of the season Saturday, defeating Northfield 51-48. The Lady Squires are now 4-5 this winter, 1-1 in the TRC. Manchester will look to get to .500 Tuesday against Huntington North.

North Miami at Whitko

Whitko dropped its conference showdown with North Miami Saturday, losing 52-37. The Lady ‘Cats are now 4-4, 0-2 in the TRC. Whitko travels to Manchster Friday to take on the Lady Squires.

Triton at Knox

Triton lost a very close game to Knox Saturday, falling 46-44 at home. The Lady Trojans are now 7-3 this season, 0-2 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.

Addyson Viers had another double-double, finishing the game with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Kinsey Atkins had 13 points, and Jocelynn Faulkner finished the night with eleven points and seven offensive rebounds.

Triton will look to get a win Wednesday at Tippecanoe Valley.

Hamilton Community at Lakeland Christian

Lakeland Christian won its second game in a row Saturday, defeating Hamilton Community 40-15 at home. The Cougars are now 5-1 this winter.

All seven LCA players scored in the game.  Mattie Stonebreaker had 13 points to lead all scorers. Katie Reimink had eight points and Reese Stonebreaker added six.

The Cougars are off until Saturday, when they’ll host Trinity.

Wrestling

Warsaw Superduels


The Warsaw Tiger Wrestling team hosted the first ever Hutch Memorial Duals on Saturday.  On a day chosen to honor the legacy of its former coach, the Tigers put together a performance to be proud of.  Warsaw closed the day as the only undefeated team in the 8-team field, and had five wrestlers finish the day at 5-0.

Warsaw started the morning with a conference matchup against Concord.  The Tigers came out firing on all cylinders against the Minutemen, winning 12 of 14 matchups - 11 of them by pin to run out to a 69-9 NLC win.

The Tigers kept the momentum rolling into round two against the Elkhart Lions.  Warsaw won the first six matches of the contest to build a 29-0 lead before Elkhart could gain footing.  By the end of the dual, Warsaw would win 9 total matchups and secure a 47-29 victory.

Warsaw put together back-to-back dominating performances against Fort Wayne Concordia and Fort Wayne Northrop by scores of 61-18 and 66-16 respectively.

With the day coming to a close, Warsaw hosted Purdue Polytechnic.  This time the Tigers found themselves in some tightly contested bouts, but were able to still earn wins from 11 of 14 weight classes and took a 63-15 win.

Warsaw’s undefeated wrestlers at 5-0 for the day were Bryce McNees, Isaiah Martinez, Aaron Ross, Jaxson Walters, and Gideon Castro.

McNees earned three pins and a tech fall at 106 pounds.  Martinez ran up three pins and a major decision at 126 pounds.  Ross found a way to work 4 pinfall victories at 145, while Walters also took 4 pins at 182 pounds.  Castro won all five matches by pin at 285 pounds.

Four wrestlers went 4-1 for Warsaw.  Drake Shilling won all four of his 113 pound matches by pin.  Elias Garza battled his way to some quality wins in a 120 pound group that had no undefeated wrestlers.  At 152, Danny Moon hammered down three pins, as did Bryson Brown at 170 pounds.

Warsaw had wrestlers with at least three wins in 11 weights, and collectively put together multiple wins in all 14.
