Miriel McFarland, IMD, said a lot of the money IMD received has all ready been spent through cameras, electronics and a new HVAC system. Speicher said some of the money will be used for a new roof for the center.
IMD will open the Early Learning Center in January for its employees.
Todd Speicher, IMD, said the goal of the center is to help in employee retention, recruitment and help employees become financially successful. He said IMD will be subsidizing part of the price of the child care.
IMD partnered with Early Childhood Alliance because IMD wanted a structured program for the center.
The center will be for 10 children from 6 weeks old to pre-kindergarten.
McFarland said the center has two full-time employees and they are looking to hire a part-time employee.
Speicher said he hopes there will be a couple openings at the center so it can be used as a recruitment tool to help bring potential employees in as the company is hiring. McFarland said she hopes the center will help free up caregivers to be able to go back into the workforce.
Sherry Searles, LaunchPad director, said the center is special because not all companies are able to make childcare available for children of employees.
