Tippecanoe Valley at Whitko
SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko remains undefeated on the young season after defeating Tippecanoe Valley 3-1 (17-25, 25-9, 25-10, 25-16). The Lady ‘Cats are now 4-0 this season, 2-0 in the Three Rivers Conference. The Lady Vikings fall to 2-4, 0-1 in the TRC.
Audra Brandenburg led the team with 13 kills and added a block on defense as well. Morgan Howard had 16 assists to lead the team and finished second on the team with 15 digs.
Whitko plays at the Westview Invite Saturday while Tippecanoe Valley faces Peru Tuesday.
Triton at Argos
ARGOS – Triton volleyball won its fourth straight game Thursday, winning 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-9). The Trojans are now 5-1 this season.
Kinsey Atkins was on fire serving the ball, racking up six aces over the course of the game. Atkins also led the team in digs with eight. Lena Doll had three blocks.
Triton’s next game is Tuesday at Knox.
North Miami at Manchester
NORTH MANCHESTER – Manchester dropped a close matchup with North Miami Thursday, dropping its first TRC game of the season. The Lady Squires dropped the match 3-2 to fall to 3-4 this season. Manchester takes part in the Prairie Heights Invite Saturday,
Boys Soccer
Warsaw at Plymouth
WARSAW – Warsaw boys soccer remained undefeated this season and started off Northern Lakes Conference play with a 2-0 victory over Plymouth Thursday. The Tigers are now 5-0-1 this season, 1-0 in the NLC.
The Tigers scored both goals in the first half. The first was scored off of the head of Callen O’Brian, the second goal belonged to Eddie Escutia.
Warsaw has a tough test Saturday against ranked 2A side Mishawaka Marian.
Wabash at Manchester
NORTH MANCHESTER – Manchester boys soccer is still undefeated in the TRC after a 4-2 victory over Wabash Thursday. The Squires are now 4-1 this season, 2-0 in the TRC.
After an Apache goal just a minute prior, Michael Ortiz tied the game at one a minute before the end of the first half. Tyler McLain would put Manchester on top twenty minutes into the second half, and later assisted on a second goal by Ortiz.
The Squires host Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday.
Caston at Tippecanoe Valley
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley picked on a dominant non-conference win Thursday, defeating Caston 9-0 at home. The Vikings are now 3-1 this season.
Three players scored a brace for Tippy Valley. Jonathan Ruiz, Christian Ramirez and Eric Eikenberry all scored two. Ruiz also had three assists in the game.
The Vikings head to Manchester on Tuesday.
Culver Academies at Wawasee
SYRACUSE – Wawasee boys soccer suffered a tough loss at home Thursday, falling 5-0 to Culver Academies at home. The Warriors are now 1-2 this season.
Weston McClintin had seven saves in goal. Wawasee has an NLC matchup against NorthWood Tuesday.
Girls Soccer
NorthWood at Warsaw
WARSAW - WARSAW - The Warsaw Tiger girls’ soccer side put on a clinic in offensive teamwork and defense in Thursday night’s 4-0 win over the NorthWood Panthers at the Tiger Soccer Complex (TSC).
Senior midfielder Rylee Burns scored one goal (46th minute) and earned assists for each of the other three Tiger scores.
Senior midfielder Macy Wayne’s goal (58’) made the most significant statement with respect to Warsaw’s offensive teamwork, testimony to how effectively the host side has been moving the ball in 2022.
Bonnie Hampton, Lola Pepper, and Abby Kohler respectively worked the ball crisply left to right. Kohler found Burns crashing from the right hitting Wayne in turn.
“The team is moving the ball quickly across the pitch,” Warsaw head coach Jon Hoover remarked. “They're finding people in the spaces we need to find them. That goal is the result of everyone working hard so that the actual goal being scored is easy work. It’s fun to see them really work hard, and the person scoring just puts the icing on the cake because everyone did everything else to set it up.”
Lola Pepper (13’, assist Burns) scored Warsaw’s first goal, and Sarah Kratzsch (64’) punctuated Warsaw’s offensive attack.
Defenders Jordan Love, Zoe Bergan, Paige Smythe, and Kaiden Pepper stifled the Panthers’ offense, allowing no shots on goal in the first half. NorthWood’s offense rarely advanced past the center line.
Warsaw is hosting Bishop Dwenger at 10 a.m. Saturday at the TSC.
Tippecanoe Valley at North Miami
DENVER, Ind. – Tippecanoe Valley girls soccer made history Thursday, beating North Miami 5-0 for the first Three Rivers Conference victory in school history. The Lady Vikings are now 2-2-1 this season, 1-1 in the TRC.
Jessica Brito had two goals for Tippy Valley, one coming on a penalty kick. Lydia Miller, Noelia Ruiz-Quintana and Macy Peterson all added a goal as well.
The Lady Vikings play their next match Monday against Elkhart Christian.
Bethany Christian at Wawasee
SYRACUSE – Wawasee girls soccer ended a stretch of three games in as many days with its first win of the season Thursday, 4-3 over Bethany Christian. The Warriors are now 1-2-3 this fall.
Morgan Reel had an outstanding game for Wawasee, scoring a hat trick. The Warriors next game comes Saturday against Goshen to open up Northern Lakes Conference play.
Manchester at Oak Hill
CONVERSE – Manchester dropped a hard fought battle at Oak Hill Saturday, dropping the contest in a 1-0 loss. The Lady Squires are now 1-2-1 this fall. The team plays its next game Thursday against Huntington North.
