Football

Triton at South Central

UNION?MILLS - Triton football opened up its season with a statement Friday night, defeating South Central 49-0 on the road.

Anthony Schuh had a monster game running the ball, tallying 219 yards on just eight carries. Starting quarterback Cole Shively was also effective on the ground, adding 84 yards rushing.

Triton hosts LaVille next Friday and will hope to improve to 2-0.

Boys Soccer

St. Joseph at Warsaw

WARSAW – Warsaw soccer had to settle for a tie after an equalizing goal by St. Joseph in the final minute of the game to salvage a 2-2 draw Thursday. The Tigers remain undefeated on the season as their record moves to 2-0-1.

Roberto Sanchez and Noah VanPuffelen scored the two Warsaw goals. The junior varsity Tigers walked away with a 6-0 win. Next up for Warsaw is a Saturday morning contest against East Chicago Central.

Manchester at Peru

PERU, Ind. – Manchester soccer opened up its season Thursday with a dominating 9-0 win over Peru that called for the mercy rule.

It was a monster game for junior Tyler McLain, who finished the game with four goals and an assist. Nathaniel Miller also added a goal as well as two assists. Kolby Haecker also scored a goal, the first of his career. The Squires will take part in the NorthWood Invitational Saturday.

Girls Soccer

Wabash at Tippecanoe Valley

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley was unable to defend its home turf Thursday evening, falling 2-1 to Wabash. The Lady Vikings are now 1-1 this season.

Trailing 2-0 at the half, Tippy Valley was only able to manage one goal in the second half, scored by Noellia Ruiz-Quintana. Jetta Hughes notched nine saves in goal. Next up for the Lady Vikings is a non-conference matchup with NorthWood Monday night.

Volleyball

Warsaw at Huntington North

HUNTINGTON – Warsaw volleyball made quick work of their non-conference opponent Huntington North Thursday, winning 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-10). The Tigers remain undefeated with a 2-0 record.

Avery Hales led all players with 27 assists, while also finishing the game top three in aces and kills. Leah Henderson and Maggie Hollon were both very busy on the defensive side, tallying three blocks each.

Warsaw plays at the Carmel Round Robin Saturday morning.

Manchester at Oak Hill

CONVERSE – Manchester volleyball fought hard but came up just short in a highly contested match at Oak Hill, losing 3-2 (25-13, 19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 9-15). The Lady Squires are now 1-1 this season.

McKelvey Espeset was busy on both offense and defense, tying for the team lead with eight kills as well as tallying two blocks. Paxton Baker had 20 digs. Next up for Manchester is the Elwood Invite Saturday.

Columbia City at Whitko

SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko volleyball came away with a heart stopping win Thursday night, defeating Columbia City 3-2 to open up its season. The Lady ‘Cats next contest is Tuesday against Churubusco.

Girls Golf

Tippecanoe Valley/ Warsaw at Wabash

WABASH – Tippecanoe Valley took first place in a three-way match against Warsaw and Wabash Thursday, shooting a field-low of 170. Warsaw finished in second place with a 184.

Valley’s Madelyn Weaver and Warsaw’s Abbey Peterson shared medalist honors by each shooting a 38. Warsaw hosts a tournament Saturday, While Tippy Valley travels to Rochester.

MISHAWAKA – Warsaw tennis was shut out by Penn Thursday, losing 5-0 on the road.

The doubles pairing of Khareus Miller and Patrick Stump fought hard, but came up short in their 7-5, 53-6, 5-7 loss. Next up for the Tigers is a Thursday matchup with Mishawaka.
