Local High School Sports Recaps For 4/26

Fort Wayne Carroll at Warsaw
WARSAW – Warsaw struggled to keep Carroll off of the base paths in a 17-3 loss in five innings at home Tuesday.
The Tigers scored all three of their runs in the fifth inning. Sam Justice notched an RBI by drawing a walk with the bases loaded and Lukas Maier drove in two with a double. Logan O’Malley went 2-2, leading the team in hits.
Warsaw plays a road game at Concord Friday night.
Bethany Christian at Wawasee
SYRACUSE – Wawasee picked up a big nonconference victory over Bethany Christian Tuesday, winning 12-2 to snap a five game losing streak. The Warriors are now 2-7 this season.
Landan Alexander hit two triples for Wawasee, and was tied for the team lead with Kaleb Salazar with two hits. The Warriors used timely hitting combined with some stellar defensive play to lock down the win.
The Warriors take on Goshen Friday night.
Tippecanoe Valley at Culver Academies
CULVER – Tippecanoe Valley dropped its nonconference matchup with Culver Academies Tuesday, losing 7-2. The Vikings are now 2-5 this spring.
Braxton Davis and Annakin Pettit both had two hits for Valley, with Davis getting an extra base knock as well as an RBI. Damion Kohler drove in the other Viking run. Evan Myers struck out four in 3.1 scoreless innings.
Tippy Valley plays its next game Monday against North Miami.
Softball
Pioneer at Tippecanoe Valley
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley came up short against an undefeated Pioneer team, losing to 2A No. 7 Panthers 14-2. The Lady Vikings are now 9-3 this season.
Abby Bowers drove in both of Tippy Valley’s runs in the fourth inning with a 2 RBI double. Corinna Stiles struck out five in two innings of work, but also gave up four runs. Stiles scored a run on Bowers’ double after being hit by a pitch.
The Lady Vikings take on Caston on the road Thursday.
Goshen at Warsaw
WARSAW – Warsaw dropped a tough Northern Lakes Conference matchup to Goshen Tuesday, falling 14-3 to the RedHawks. The Tigers are now 3-5 this season, 1-3 in the NLC.
Warsaw plays a makeup game with Columbia City Thursday evening.
Huntington North at Whitko
SOUTH WHITLEY – It only took five innings for Huntington North to defeat Whitko, as the Lady ‘Cats fell 17-0 in the nonconference showdown. Whitko is now 2-6 this season.
Madison Cripe and Audra Brandenburg both had a hit for the Lady ‘Cats.
Whitko plays its next game Monday against Maconaquah.

Whitko/Lakeland Christian/Northfield at Manchester
NORTH MANCHESTER – Three local area schools competed at a coed track meet at Manchester Tuesday.
Manchester performed very well, finishing in first place in both the boys and girls sides. Whitko finished in second place in both divisions. Lakeland Christian finished in third place on the girls side and fourth place on the boys.

Warsaw at Mishawaka
MISHAWAKA – Warsaw picked up its second win in a row with a 5-0 sweep over Mishawaka Tuesday. The Tigers are now 2-3 this season, 1-1 in the NLC.
All five matches won by Warsaw were won in straight sets. The doubles play was exceptionally impressive for the Tigers, as the duos of Marie Frazzetta/ Megan Mishler and Kennedy Wiedeman/Avery Landwelen both won their matches 6-0, 6-0.
Northfield at Manchester
NORTH MANCHESTER – Manchester remained undefeated in conference play with a 3-2 victory over Northfield Tuesday evening.
Alyssa Marvel continued a dominant start to the season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in singles. The Lady Squires won both of their doubles matches in straight sets to clinch the victory.
Northridge at Wawasee
SYRACUSE – Wawasee is still looking for its first conference win after a 4-1 defeat to Northridge Tuesday. The Warriors are now 4-7, 0-3 in the NLC.
Kiah Farrington picked up the lone Wawasee win with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
