Tiger Boys’ Track Posts Dominant Conference Win

The following Warsaw seniors were honored in last night’s meet:
Ben Brander, Noah Chew, Kyler Denney, Konnor Fleming, Andrew Frush, Easton Hummitch, Jeremy Johnson, Julius Jones, Nate Knecht, Luke Nier, Ian Shepherd, Sam Slough, Trace Stookey, Ashton Wade, Andrew Wiebe, Aiden Woods.
Wawasee also fell to Northridge 112-24. The Warriors’ Hunter Tinkey (100 meters, 11.69 sec.) earned the squad’s best finish of the day missing first place by 0.04 seconds.
The Tiger throwers put the “field” in field day by sweeping both throws. Noah Chew (shot put, first, 49’0”; discus, second 124’7.25”), Trace Stookey (shot put, second, 42’10.25”; discus, first, 130’2.5”),
Isaac Beam (shot put, third place 41’0.25”), and Harrison Stofer (discus, third place, 123”8”) turned in performances as testimony to the level of thrower depth the Tigers haven’t experienced in more than a decade.
Other notable performances included the 4 X 100m relay team of Haydin Rodriguez, Morgan Johnson, Tucker Curtis, and Wade (44.77 sec.), Jeremy Johnson’s double win in the 400m dash (50.94 sec), and the 200m dash (23.2 sec), and Morgan Johnson’s pole vault win (13’0”).
Second place performances with notable times and heights included Frush (110m hurdles, 15.7 sec), Aiden Woods (300m hurdles, 42.79 sec), Ryun Hoffert (3200m run, 10:25.9) and Tucker Curtis (pole vault, 12’6”).
The Tigers’ middle distance relay teams took blue ribbons in the 1600m (Frush, Colton Martin, Nathan Dailey, Morgan Johnson – 3:34.10) and 3200m (Warsaw, Jeremy Johnson, Sam Slough, Luke Nier, and Garrett Hall - 8:20.75), and shaved more than 10 and 20 seconds off their previous meet times respectively for blue ribbon finishes.
Warsaw travels to the other undefeated conference foe, Concord, for its next NCL double-dual meet with a regular season first place team finish on the line Wednesday, April 27 at 5:30 p.m. The Tigers’ depth will meet its greatest challenge Friday, April 29 at 6 p.m. when the orange and black host the Max Truex Invitational.
