Burket Educational Center will have its graduation in the gymnasium at 10 a.m. May 19.
“We are excited. We’re going to recognize our 400th graduate through Burket since its inception,” Conley said.
Teacher Micah Lukens will give a speech on the history of the educational center “and we really want to celebrate this because it’s a really big deal for our kids to graduate through that program and for it to be a very important support for our community,” Conley said.
Graduation at TVHS will be June 5 with baccalaureate starting at 2 p.m. and commencement at 2:45 p.m. in the school gymnasium.
On Monday, the building-level teachers of the year will be recognized. Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation will awards its corporation teacher of the year.
Also Monday, four retiring teachers will be recognized. They are Tana Tinkey, music teacher at Mentone Elementary; Alisa Baker, second-grade teacher at Mentone Elementary; Kathy Good, physical education teacher at Akron Elementary; and Pam Sellers, first-grade teacher at Mentone Elementary. A reception for the retiring teachers will be at 5:15 p.m. at Mentone Elementary before the Board meeting.
Conley also noted the Board was scheduled to approved bids for its building project, but it is being postponed. Project administration and construction management services company The Skillman Corporation is asking the Board for additional time to work with the contractors they are recommending, so they’re really working through the process.
Conley said the Board might have to have a separate meeting to approve the bids.
