Glass Slipper Event Returns To Help KC Teens Attend Prom

By Staff Report-

Prom is a time-honored tradition for high school students. Young women prepare for this event by paying for their hair, makeup and nails to accent their dresses and young men dress in tuxedos to escort their dates.

Prom is also one of the most expensive traditions of high school and would not be possible for some without the Glass Slipper, according to a news release from Combined Community Services. Now, in its 14th year, the Glass Slipper event allows young women the opportunity to get a free prom dress, shoes, jewelry and even some beauty services or a meal for two.

“We are very excited to bring back the glass slipper event to Combined Community Services. We are once again looking forward to serving young ladies in our community to help make prom special for everyone. This event will allow young ladies attending prom to select a prom dress in a comfortable setting,” said Eva Vega, volunteer and intake coordinator from Combined Community Services.

This year, the campaign is underway, accepting donated prom dresses, shoes and jewelry. Combined Community Services will also be working with local restaurants, salon owners and greenhouses to be able to provide an “all-in-one” stop for young ladies in Kosciusko County. Also, tax deductible monetary donations are being accepted that will help more young women and men be able to attend prom.
