WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian boys soccer defeated Peru 2-1 on Saturday, snapping a two game skid and improving its record to 3-6 this season.
Peru took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but the cougars responded in impressive fashion, scoring two goals in the second half to take the victory. Landen Bremer tied the game up in the 57th minute, and Nate Reimink scored the winner with just a minute left in the game.
LCA takes on Manchester Tuesday.
Wawasee Volleyball wins Wawasee Invitational
SYRACUSE – Wawasee volleyball continued its impressive start to the season Saturday, winning all four of its matches and taking home the trophy at the Wawasee Invitational. The Warriors are now 16-2 this season.
After defeating Culver, Columbia City and Elkhart Christian in pool play, the Warriors took down Garrett in the championship 17-25, 25-21, 18-16. Amanda Allen led the team in both aces with eleven and assists with 87. Leslie Vazquez had a team-high 42 kills and eleven blocks.
Wawasee takes on Warsaw Thursday.
Whitko Volleyball Goes 1-3 At Wawasee Invitational
SYRACUSE – Whitko Volleyball went 1-3 at the Wawasee Invitational Saturday, moving its record to 7-14 this season.
The Lady ‘Cats dropped the first three games they played, suffering losses to Bethany Christian, Garrett and Wabash. The team finally picked up a win in its third match of the day, defeating Elkhart Christian 25-21, 25-23. Audra Brandenburg led the team with 13 kills and four blocks. Reese Bradford had 21 assists.
Whitko plays its next game Tuesday against Wabash.
Manchester Volleyball Takes Third At Eastbrook Invitational
MARION – Manchester Volleyball finished in third place at the Eastbrook Invitational on Saturday after going 2-2 on the day. The Lady Squires are now 5-11 this fall.
Manchester suffered losses to Eastern and the hosts Eastbrook, but picked up wins against Taylor and North Miami. The 17-25, 25-17, 15-10 victory over the Warriors on the final match got the Lady Squires third place. Paxton Baker had eight aces and 48 assists on the day. Blake Drasny had a team-high 18 kills.
Manchester faces off with Logansport Wednesday.
Tippecanoe Valley Girls Soccer Falls To Wabash
WABASH – Tippecanoe Valley girls soccer dropped a road game against Wabash Saturday, falling 8-0. The Lady Vikings are now 1-6 this season.
Tippy Valley held Wabash to just two goals in the first half. But the Apaches came out in the second half firing on all cylinders, scoring six. Anayi Ramirez-Brito made five saves in net.
The Lady Vikings play their next game Wednesday against North Miami.
Whitko Boys Tennis Defeats Maconaquah
SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko boys tennis picked up a 3-2 victory over Maconaquah Saturday.
David Ousley and Blake Schroeder both picked up wins in the singles competition, with Schroeder dominating his matchup with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Braiden Wolfe and Keaton Cornell won their doubles match 6-1, 6-2 to clinch the victory for the Wildcats.
Warsaw Boys XC Takes Second At New Prairie Invitational, Girls Finish Fifth
NEW CARLISLE – Warsaw boys cross-country took second place at the New Prairie invitational, the largest meet in the state. The girls team finished in fifth place, Manchester boys took tenth place, and the Lady Squires finished in eighth. Tippecanoe Valley did not have enough runners to place.
Warsaw’s top finisher in the boys competition was Harrison Phipps, who came in fifteenth. For the Tiger girls, it was Josefina Rastrelli who finished in eighth.
Warsaw JV Football Defeats Northridge
WARSAW- Warsaw JV football beat Northridge Saturday 52-6. The Tigers were led offensively by Grady Nolin, Jayce Sawyer and Ethan Egoff with two rushing touchdowns each. Reed Zollinger had one rushing touchdown. Warsaw led 30-0 at the half.
Defensive leaders on the day were Nathan Rosas with three fumble recoveries, Chase Carl with two forced fumbles, and Eyeri Morales with a blocked punt.
The Tigers are 4-1 on the season and remain undefeated in NLC play. They host Goshen Saturday.
