Ronald L. “Ron” Block, 79, of North Manchester, passed away at 3:33 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at his home.

He was born on Aug. 12, 1942, in Michigan City, to Robert Frank and Virginia M. Miller Block.

He graduated in 1960 from South Whitley High School, was a United States Air Force veteran and attended tech school in the Air Force. He was married on Nov. 11, 1967, in Fort Wayne, to Kathryn L. Metcalf, who survives. He retired from General Motors in Roanoke after 21 years and formerly worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne for 19-plus years. He grew up in South Whitley and lived in the South Whitley/North Manchester area most of his life.

He is survived by wife, Kathryn Block, of North Manchester; son, Jason L. (Verena) Block, of Chicago; daughter, Noel L. (Kevin) Dean, of Madison; four grandchildren: Jake (Scott) Zello-Dean, Constance Dean, Adrian Dean and Trista (Nick) Anderson; three great-grandchildren: Paige, Declan and Violet Anderson; mother, Virginia Block, of South Whitley; brother, John (Julie) Block, of Andrews; sister, Mary Lou (Gary) Sroufe, of South Whitley; three nephews and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind., 15, Warsaw. No public services are planned.
