I remember when Christmas gifts were handed out, we used to shake them to discover some hint to what they might be. We discovered that all the gifts were good. They were something we didn’t have before the moment we opened them. They often became very useful to us and sometimes something we needed. So was the gift we were given on Nov. 2, 2016. A gift that might have made too much noise, rattled too much but somehow met our every need.

So just one year ago, we were energy independent and no we’re not. Out southern border was effectively closed and protected against illegal intruders invading the sovereignty of this country. Now we bear witness to the largest invasion of our borders since the British tried to enforce their rule over us. Our gas prices have exploded as well as the price of everything else we’ve become accustomed to as an everyday staple. Our supply ports are in crisis, unable to unload and deliver the goods that we’ve become used to finding on our store shelves.

They try to tell us that this is a result of COVID-19. Let’s not forget that our last president had to deal with this scourge at its onset. He had to energize our manufacturing industry to make PPE and ventilators because the Obama/Biden administration left the shelves empty after their mishandling of the H1N1 virus. A virus, by the way, that went away on its own after the Obama/Biden administration basically  threw their hands in the air and went on to turn their back on the problem! These are not the rants of a disgruntled conservative, look it up for yourself.

Who knows, maybe we will get another gift. A gift that may pull us out of current malaise. A gift that may lower gas prices, stop the invasion of our souther border, help Americans fill the 10 million jobs that are presently available, insure our schools teach reading, writing and arithmetic and inspire the lost affection and pride once held for this great country.

If God gives us this gift again ... don’t shake it so hard, as we now have experienced, freedom is fragile.
