The ABC Bridge Club Played

The ABC Bridge Club met at the Red Apple Restaurant with Edith Vitoux as hostess.

Winners were Virginia Horn and Ann Thallemer.



Thursday Bridge Club Met

Winners for the Thursday Bridge Club at Marie’s Family Restaurant were Patty Donkers, Beth Huffer and Sharon Holtz.



Bridge At SPEC Played

NORTH WEBSTER – Bridge was played at SPEC in the North Webster Community Center.

On Tuesday, Ronnie Pierog came in first and Wanda Wyrick came in second. On Thursday,   Ronnie Pierog came in first and Mike Wyrick came in second.



Lambda Sorority To Have Social Meeting On Wednesday

Lambda Chi Omega Sorority will have a social meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the American Table Restaurant.

There will be a white elephant exchange.

Hostesses will be Joyce Garman and Carolyn Montel.



Winona Literary Club Met

WINONA LAKE – The Winona Literary Club met at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Robin Hood Community Center in Grace Village with 24 members and two guests present.

The featured speaker was author and retired educator Richard Rooker from Warsaw. Rooker is co-author of the book “Busses Are A Comin’” with Charles Person.

A National History Day project in middle school by his son, Zack, connected Richard and Charles. Richard was moved by the life and witness of Person and together, they told the story of the 1961 Freedom Ride on buses by seven Black activists and six white activists, also known as the Freedom Riders. Their book is cited as the complete recounting of the Freedom Riders experience. Rooker highlighted to the club the courage, service and sacrifice of Person and the other Freedom Riders, and he encouraged the club to thank the people they know in their lives. The book is available at the Warsaw Community Public Library and on Amazon.

The business meeting consisted of minutes, financial report, old and new business.

Hostesses providing refreshment and decorations were Francis Duke and Joyce Griffith.

The next Literary Club meeting will be Nov. 3 with a book review and music by John and Cathy Miller.
