By Staff Report-

This year’s Warsaw Community High School Marching Band performance theme is “Beyond the Forest's Edge,” a variation on Little Red Riding Hood and the perils she faces trying to get home.

The Warsaw Band performed outstandingly this past weekend and they will continue to strive for higher marks next week when they compete at the state competition Oct. 23 at Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.

The Warsaw Band will perform a community performance of this award-winning show on Friday, Oct. 15 at Fisher Field at 6:30 p.m. WCS invites the public to enjoy the hard work and hours of practice these amazing students have invested in this year’s performance of “Beyond the Forest’s Edge,” the release states. There is no admission charge for the performance, however, freewill donations will be accepted for the Band Boosters.

In the show, spectators realize how Red gets confused as the trees begin to and sway with the music. The show begins as the band lurks away from one another as they listen to the call of the flute, according to the release. Out into the open, Red flees only to get encased in the bewildering call of senior Matheson Hertel’s trombone. The loud glissando from the entire low brass as they switched from baritones to trombones in a heartbeat caught the crowd by surprise. The drill routine enhances the musical score played by the students as they march across the field with trees in tow. Attention is pulled in by the quick tempos and sharp movements only to look again and the forest is alive, moving with the melody.
