North Webster Library Director Resigns

Regarding her resignation, Barron stated she is leaving for personal reasons at the end of October.
Barron took over the library director position in January after Helen Leinbach Frank retired at the end of 2020. Barron came to North Webster from the Plymouth Public Library where she had been director for nearly four years. She also served as the Bourbon Public Library director prior to that for eight years and was a Peace Corps. volunteer in Zambia. She was a Triton High School graduate and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in library and information science from Indiana University.
“The Board of Trustees is sad to see Heather leave and wishes her only the best in the next phase of her life,” Board President Phil Metcalf said. “The board appreciates all that Heather has done for the library while she was the director.”
While Barron’s resignation is effective at the end of October, she has agreed to stay on as needed until the end of the year to help with the transition period until a new director is hired.
North Webster Community Public Library is at 110 E. North St., North Webster. The library is opened Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information about the library and its services can be obtained online at www.nweb.lib.in.us or on the library’s Facebook page.
