Born on July 30, 1954, in Greenville, Miss., John was the son of Eugene J. and Velma Iris Maxey DeWilde Sr. He was united in marriage to Jeanne West on March 24, 1984, in Vincennes.
John retired from Zimmer Inc. in 2009 as a computer tech analyst with 31 years of service. He was formerly employed at Warsaw Community Schools STEM Academy as a librarian and in addition he served as a driver for KABS. John was a member of the Kosciusko County Masonic Lodge 418, Mizpah Shrine Temple, Fort Wayne, and Kosciusko County Shrine Club.
John is survived by his wife, Jeanne DeWilde, of Warsaw; son, Christopher DeWilde, of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother, Michael (Kim) DeWilde, of Lafayette; granddaughters: Raynn and Autumn DeWilde, of Ashville, N.C.; brothers-in-law: Larry (Trisha) West and Tony (Debbie) West, both of Vincennes; sisters-in-law: Ann West, of Vincennes; and Ruth Wraley, of Indianapolis; mother-in-law, Veronica West, of Vincennes; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A visitation is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST on Thursday, Oct. 7 at First United Methodist Church, Warsaw. A memorial service in celebration of his life will begin at 1 p.m. EST in the church with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. Interment will be private. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, have been entrusted with arrangements for the family.
Masks are optional, and social distancing is encouraged.
