Valley Rolls To 7-0, Trips Braves
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley improved to 7-0 for the first time in 34 years after its 57-6 Three Rivers Conference football win over visiting Maconaquah Friday night.
The 1987 Vikings also began 7-0.
Due to lengthy injury delays, statistics for the game were not available as of press time.
Branson McBriar had a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs, and Braden Shepherd had a 26-yard touchdown run for the Vikings in the first half. The duo also connected for a 74-yard TD pass and run just before halftime.
The Vikings lead the conference by a half-game over Northfield, whom Valley defeated in Week 2, and a full game over Peru, whom the Vikes beat in the third week of the season.
Valley will seek to protect its perfect record (5-0 in the conference) Friday at Wabash. The Apaches (1-5, 1-3 TRC) were 48-7 winners over North Miami Friday night.
Bluejays Down Trojans
BOURBON – Anthony Schuh gained 133 yards on 26 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns for host Triton in its 35-16 loss to Class 1A No. 12 North Judson in Hoosier North Athletic Conference football action Friday.
Quarterback Cole Shively had 41 yards on 15 carries, and added a 20-yard field goal and an extra point for the Trojans. Shively completed three passes in eight attempts, finding Schuh for 13 yards, Cole Irvine for 10 and Reilley Wood for a 4-yard reception.
Wood and Amari Snyder led Triton with six tackles each. Trenton Conley added a pair of tackles for loss.
Triton (3-4, 2-4 HNAC) travels to Knox for a conference game Friday.
Cougars Drop Season Finale
CULVER – Braden Weirick recorded 14 saves for Lakeland Christian Academy in a 1-0 loss to Trinity School at Greenlawn in the Cougars regular season boys soccer finale Friday night.
“We competed well tonight and put Trinity under some pressure at times, “ said LCA?head coach Dan Miller. “Braden Weirick made some phenomenal saves this evening and freshman Simon Avey did an incredible job on Trinity’s best player Henry Lee.
“These last two performances should give us confidence going into Sectionals on Wednesday against the host Wabash.”
Lee scored the match’s lone goal in the 35th minute.
The Cougars will take a 5-8 record into its sectional match.
