Ivy Tech Fort Wayne/Warsaw Selects Heidi Fowler As Vice Chancellor Of Academic Affairs

By Staff Report-

Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne and Warsaw has selected Heidi Fowler as the vice chancellor of academic affairs.

The role was formerly held by Dr. Kim Barnett-Johnson, who left the position Aug. 16 when she became chancellor of the Fort Wayne service area. Fowler will serve as the primary campus advisor for academic affairs at the Fort Wayne campus, in a news release from Ivy Tech.

“I'm excited to be leading academic affairs here at Ivy Tech Fort Wayne,” Fowler said. “During my seven years here, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with students to help them succeed academically. I have also enjoyed working with faculty over the last four years to develop new initiatives and create lasting changes for our students.”

Fowler will be the chief academic officer for the campus and will report directly to the campus chancellor. She will advise the chancellor in the formation of policies affecting all academic programs, and will provide leadership and supervision for all campus academic schools.

“I am excited to have Heidi as a member of the leadership team at Ivy Tech Fort Wayne and Warsaw,” Ivy Tech Fort Wayne and Warsaw Chancellor Kim Barnett-Johnson said. “Her experience in the Ivy Tech system and background in higher education will be invaluable as she assumes this new role. Heidi has also taken on many service efforts both at Ivy Tech and in the Fort Wayne community, which will be an important asset for the College.”

Fowler was promoted from dean of the Schools of Business, Logistics, & Supply Chain and Public Affairs & Social Services, where she collaborated with industry partners to foster relationships within each of her schools to increase employment opportunities. She also served as the campus Title IX coordinator, the Fort Wayne representative for Circle of Ivy, and held leadership roles in committees for A Reason to Taste (the College’s largest annual fundraiser) and commencement.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Juris Doctor from Ohio Northern University. Before coming to higher education, Fowler was a practicing attorney.
