Mrs. Helene Dee Youse Woods, a life-long Warsaw resident, went into the loving arms of Jesus Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Helene Dee Youse Woods, daughter of the late Helene Person and Don C. Youse, was born Sept. 18, 1955, in Warsaw. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1973 and married her high school Sweetheart, Daniel L. Woods. They celebrated 48 years of marriage this Oct. 19. They were blessed with one daughter, Lindsay Nicole Woods Gergely and her husband Jason Gergely, whom she loved like her own son. Her favorite role was as Yaya to her three granddaughters: Scarlett Grace Gergely, Calla Elizabeth Gergely and Maren Rose Gergely.

She was extremely intelligent, articulate and hardworking, showing all these traits during her 26-year career with DePuy before stepping away from director of credit and collections to choose her favorite career of staying at home to care for and raise Lindsay. She loved reading, spending time with her family, visiting the Outer Banks and being at the ocean. She lived her life proudly for the Lord and was the biggest prayer warrior for friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Helene Person Youse and Don C. Youse.

She is survived by the love of her life, Daniel L. Woods; her daughter, Lindsay Woods Gergely, of Warsaw; son-in-law, Jason Gergely; brother, Rev. Don C. Youse Jr., of Pittsburgh; and sister, Lee Gast, of Lafayette.

A visitation is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service in celebration of her life will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20 in the funeral chapel. Pastor Rod Mayer will officiate the services. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Masks are optional, and social distancing is encouraged. No food is permitted at this time.
