By Staff Report-

Kosciusko County continues to experience a high level of community transmission and significant hospitalization and death related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release Friday from the Kosciusko County Health Department.

The KCHD encourages ongoing mitigation steps, such as social distancing, masking in indoor congregate gatherings, universal masking in schools, good hand hygiene and care with upcoming holiday planning.

COVID immunization is safe and effective, the release states, and the most robust means to put the pandemic in the rearview mirror.

The recent approval of Pfizer’s pediatric-dosed COVID vaccine for 5-11-year-old children is a “wonderful addition to our available pandemic resources,” the release states. It offers an opportunity to lessen disease burden in the community and provide less disruption to families, schools and holiday gatherings.

The KCHD immunization clinic will devote Tuesday clinics to pediatric COVID vaccine. There are other community venues providing pediatric COVID immunization.

To find a pediatric COVID vaccine resource and to register, visit online at ourshot.IN.gov or call 211.
