Grace Holds Sportsmanship Summit For Northern Lakes Conference

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace College and Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe welcomed student-athletes from the high schools of the Northern Lakes Conference for a Sportsmanship Summit on Monday.

Student-athletes from the NLC schools attended the summit, which was designed to educate student-athletes about sportsmanship and character training in athletics.

"We are pleased to be a part of building character at the high school level through the Sportsmanship Summit," Briscoe said. "We hope it served as a great opportunity to educate and reinforce character education and to help promote the importance of sportsmanship for each student-athlete."

Student-athletes from the NLC spent the day together working in groups to discuss and challenge one another in sportsmanship and character-building opportunities in the athletic realm. The students worked in team-building opportunities to promote camaraderie among the schools in the conference and learn leadership skills.

The Sportsmanship Summit featured sessions from Roger Grossman, Marcus Moore and Briscoe. Grace student-athlete Kye Barrett also shared encouraging words to the NLC students.



Frey Tabbed As League’s Attacker Of The Week

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace volleyball player Anna Frey was selected as the Crossroads League Attacker of the Week on Monday.

Frey helped the Lady Lancers finish the regular season with a pair of critical wins, securing Grace’s spot in the CL Tournament.

She posted a double-double in Grace’s win over Spring Arbor, finishing with 15 kills, 19 digs and 3 blocks in the 3-1 win. Frey also had 11 kills on a .348 percentage in a sweep of Goshen and closed the 2-0 week with 3.7 kills, 3.9 digs and 0.6 blocks per set.

The Lady Lancers’ postseason begins this Saturday. Grace will travel to No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan for a quarterfinal matchup at 7 p.m.



Stratton Named CL Defensive Player Of The Week

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Freshman goalkeeper Libby Stratton picked up her first award on Monday for Grace’s women’s soccer team.

Stratton was named the Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Week for the Lady Lancers. She notched four saves in a 5-0 shutout victory for No. 15 Grace over Mt. Vernon Nazarene.

The win helped Grace lock up a top-four league finish. As a result, Grace will host the quarterfinals of the CL Tournament on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Mt. Vernon Nazarene at 1st Source Bank Field.
