Joe and Lois Ford Beeson will celebrate their 70th anniversary Thursday.

They were married June 3, 1951, at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Roundhead Ohio, by Rev. Milton Liedig.

In his early career, Joe was a teacher, administrator and tennis coach at Warsaw High School. In 1976, with Ray Monteith, he founded the Warsaw Racquet Club and operated it until his retirement in 1999.

Lois retired after 27 years as a teacher at Madison and Washington Elementary schools.

The Beesons have been active members of the Winona Lake Free Methodist Church for over 60 years, where Lois was instrumental in the founding of Kiddie Kollege.

During their retirement years, they traveled extensively across the United States to senior tennis tournaments with Joe achieving a top national ranking. He is still playing today at age 91.

Joe and Lois are parents of five children: Dave (Jeanie) Beeson, of Winona Lake; Kathy (Dave) Gales, Winona Lake; Steve (Martha) Beeson, of Winona Lake; Sherry (Mark) Klemme, of Fridley, Minn.; and Linda (Tim) Francis, of Winona Lake. They have 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A family dinner will be held Thursday in their honor.
