Police have no leads on who is responsible for the theft and destruction of Memorial Day flags and flowers at Brumbaugh Cemetery.

Lori Harman said she and her husband are caretakers of the cemetery on CR 300W, just north of CR 1350, and they had placed a row of United States flags in the cemetery in honor of Memorial Day.

The American Legion also placed American flags on the graves of every veteran in the cemetery.

Sometime during the overnight hours Saturday, someone tore off every single flag from its pole and took them, leaving only the poles, Harman said.

Additionally, all of the memorial flowers were torn off of their stems, Harman reported.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Francis said Monday the sheriff’s office has taken the mischief report; however, there are no leads at this time.

Anyone with information about the person or persons responsible for the incident can contact KCSO at 574-267-5667.
