Indiana Association of School Nurses announced Tracey Akers as this year's winner of the Indiana School Nurse Administrator of the Year for 2020-2021.

"Please join the Indiana Association of School Nurses (IASN) in congratulating Tracey Akers for her award of School Nurse Administrator of the Year of 2020-2021!” according to a news release from IASN Thursday afternoon.

Akers has been a school nurse for WCS since 2005 and the school nurse coordinator since 2010. She oversees the health services of over 7,000 students and works closely with the administration to ensure a school nurse is employed in every district building.

In her current role, Akers supervises 10 school nurses, two specialized nurses and three health room assistants.

“This has been a challenging year for all school nurses in our state and across the country. Special thanks go out to Tracey for all of her additional hard work during the unprecedented year of the pandemic,” the release states.
