LEESBURG – Leesburg Town Council heard updates from Street Commissioner Craig Charlton this week.

There is a town ordinance that states there’s no parking on the street between 3 and 5 a.m.

“There was one ordinance violation last month, so I think people are getting the idea,” Charlton said.

Two vehicles were in violation of the abandoned vehicle ordinance, but Charlton said one of the vehicles has been removed. A warning letter will be mailed to the property owner so they can take care of it, he said.

The Council is not finished with the town’s traffic control discussion.

Councilman Doug Jones said the numbers that are being talked about in regards to the traffic control topic are needed to be talked about in executive session as the numbers have to deal with salary or cost associated with the salary.

Jones said he would like to get together with Council President Tom and Council member Christina Archer for an executive session.

Moore said all financial matters are public.

Jones said it will be, but there is some consideration of personnel, so he feels the first discussion should be in executive session.

An executive session was set for 6 p.m. Monday.

In other business, the Council:

• Approved to keep the sewer fees for churches, restaurants and bars at current rates. It is at a reduced rate due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

• Approved Clerk-Treasurer Mike Searfoss to get a credit card so the town can purchase fuel for the town’s needs, such as filling snow blowers.

• Was reminded by Archer there is a Memorial Day parade in town May 31 starting at Town Hall at 10:30 a.m. and ending at the cemetery.
