Richards Restaurant Closing Due To Staff Shortage

An insufficient number of workers has led Richards Restaurant, 3605 Commerce Drive, Warsaw, to close.

Its last day to be open for business will be Thursday, closing at 2 p.m.

Asked if it would be a permanent closure, manager Lisa McCoy said, “As far as permanent, I don’t know.” She said corporate may look at reopening it this fall when unemployment runs out and people want to work. She said they were closing “absolutely” because of the lack of workers.

As of Friday, Richards Restaurant had 13 employees. McCoy said they need cooks, dishwashers, waitresses and hostesses.

“I’ve got some applications for waitresses, but I can’t staff the front of the house if I don’t staff the back of the house first,” she said.

All of the Richards Restaurant employees at the Warsaw location have been offered jobs in Columbia City. McCoy said some of them accepted jobs, and some did not.

For a while, Richards Restaurant has been closing at 2 p.m. except for Fridays due to not having enough staff.

Though the closure is sad, McCoy said, “We are very thankful for our clients and customers. We have great, loyal customers.”
