On Tuesday, April 27, 2021, the Commissioners of Kosciusko County demonstrated principle and courage when they passed Ordinance No. 21-04-27-, the "2nd Amendment Freedom Policy and Ordinance." Then Sheriff Dukes proclaimed his constitutional policy to abide by this ordinance. Congratulations, one and all.

Jubilation aside, this ordinance is not very robust. However, the important point is that it represents a start, a first step on a long journey to liberty. Thorough discussions and model legislation can be found at the TenthAmendmentCenter.com.

In 1790, Thomas Jefferson stated, "The ground of liberty is to be gained by inches, that we must be contented to secure what we can get from time to time, and eternally press forward for what is yet to get. It takes time to persuade men to do even what is for their own good."

More inspiration from the Founders can be found in the 1771 essay from Samuel Adams, in which he stated, "Instead of sitting down satisfied with the efforts we have already made, which is the wish of our enemies, the necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance."

As time passes, and it is seen that the sky does not fall, the citizens of Kosciusko County and their elected representatives must redouble their efforts to nullify ALL unconstitutional federal acts completely, and to secure our God-given natural rights and liberties. Thank you again, Commissioners and Sheriff Dukes.
