Steve and Carolyn Cain Shaffner, Winona Lake, celebrated their 50th anniversary Feb. 20.

They were married Feb. 20, 1971, in Drummond Chapel United Methodist Church, Morgantown, W.Va. Rev. Harpter T. Callison officiated the ceremony.

Steve is a retired businessman and former owner of Wyndham Garden Hotel and Palette Restaurant.

Carolyn is a retired third-grade teacher at Warsaw Community Schools.

They have two children: Chad Shaffner, Bargersville; and Sherry Buda,?Warsaw. They have six grandchildren.

The couple celebrated their wedding anniversary Feb. 19-22 with family at Diamondhead Beach Resort on Fort Myers Beach, Fla.Shaffner 50th

The Tippecanoe Valley girls’ win on Tuesday night wasn’t the prettiest, but at this time of year that doesn’t matter. The team was able to survive and advance with a victory in the opening game of the 3A Sectional Tournament at Fairfield, pulling away late to defeat West Noble 40-19.
