Warsaw Winter Winds Finishes First Season With A Bronze Medal

By Staff Report-

On Saturday, the newly formed Warsaw Winter Winds competed in state finals, capping off their season with a bronze medal, finishing third in the state.

Performing their program, “Scorched,” the group of 33 students competed against schools across the state for one final time, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.

“The kids have worked tirelessly since November to put on this production,” said Kyle Travis, the group’s director. “They’ve done incredible things throughout the year and I’m so proud of their accomplishment. It’s a special group of kids that truly dedicated themselves to this performance. It paid off in the end with such an entertaining performance.”

"The accomplishments of the group are emblematic of the support that the band program has received," said Travis. “We couldn’t have put together such a production without such great kids, but also our outstanding support from parents, band boosters, school administration, school board and the Warsaw community. Our high school was recognized as one of NAMM’s best schools for music education, which would not be possible without all of these groups coming together. I’m incredibly grateful for the team we have here.”

The Warsaw Winter Winds will perform one more time as part of the band program’s March Concert on Wednesday, stated the release. The performance begins at 7 p.m. at the WCHS Tiger Den.

COVID-19 safety procedures will be in effect and masks will be required.
