A Plymouth man is facing charges after allegedly stealing a truck he was working on as a lube technician.

Matthew Jason Middaugh, 36, of Plymouth, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 10:26 a.m. Tuesday and is facing a Level 6 felony theft charge.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Dec. 3 in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on Nov. 14 a Warsaw police officer spoke with a man regarding the man’s 2018 Dodge Ram truck missing from a local car dealership.

The man told police he had dropped off the truck the day before for an oil change, and the next day was notified by the business that the truck was ready to be picked up.

However, according to court papers, when the man went to the business he could not locate his truck. The car dealership employees checked the security camera and found that Middaugh, a lube technician, drove the truck into the garage at 10:02 a.m. and drove it back out at 11:20 a.m.

Middaugh was last seen driving the truck south on Ind. 15, according to the affidavit.

The following day, on Nov. 15, the man told police he was contacted by Ohio State Police who said they pulled over the pickup and the lone occupant was Middaugh.

Middaugh was incarcerated in the Warren County, Ohio, jail after the traffic stop for possession of stolen property before being transported back to Kosciusko County, according to court papers.

Middaugh’s bond was set at $5,250.
