Hugh was born Dec. 11, 1946, in Rushville, to Thomas F. and Clara Fay Donoho Hutchens. He was united in marriage to Jearlean Shepherd in Wooster on Sept. 12, 1987. He was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1961. Hugh proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict in the U.S. Army, receiving several military honors including, a Marksman National Defense Service Medal. He was employed with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Jearlean Hutchens; daughter, Pamela (Neal) Mallett; mother, Faye Wehrly; siblings, Brenda, Robert and Lewis; grandchildren, Nick (Emily), Brad (Leann), Drew (Kelsey) and Staci (Jason); and six great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 18 in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with Pastor Steve Newkirk officiating the service.
Due to current COVID-19 recommendations, masks are required. The public is kindly requested to provide their own. Social distancing is strongly encouraged. No food is permitted at this time.
