Warsaw Percussion Ensemble increased their score by 10 points to earn second place at the competition at Greenfield-Central High School on Feb. 28.

The ensemble is performing in the Scholastic Concert A-Class (PSCA). This year’s show, titled “Changes," composed by Henning Pauly and arranged by Alan Frye, highlights the musical journey through style and tempo. This group, composed of 19 high school students, has been practicing weekly since January. With the 2020 season cut short, this group is eager to perform for an audience, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.

On Saturday, a performance at Greenfield-Central High School in Greenfield marked the second competition where the WPE performed for the 2021 season. The group earned a first-place ranking at the Decatur Central Invitational on Feb. 20 and second place at Greenfield-Central Invitational. The group performed on Saturday at the Carroll High School Invitational.

The event offers tickets for the live-streamed event. For streaming tickets visit https://carrollinvitational.anywhereseat.com. Cost is $10 plus a $1.25 service fee.

The group will compete at IPA State Prelims at Center Grove High School on March 20 and state finals at Ben Davis High School on March 27. Livestream tickets will be available for these events also.

The Warsaw Percussion ensemble was established in 1991. This group stands on a legacy of being 18-time state finalists and five-time state champions. The winter percussion ensemble is led by director Mark Ziegler with assistance from Alan Frye and Brandon Bussard.

Join WCS for a performance at the Warsaw Community High School Tiger’s Den on March 31 at 7 p.m. COVID-19 safety precautions will be in effect and masks will be required. This performance will showcase all Warsaw bands at the high school.
