Warsaw Schools Announces New 2021 Speaker Series

By Staff Report-

Warsaw Community Schools, in conjunction with the recently adopted strategic plan, is introducing a new 2021 Speaker Series.

WCS announced four presenters who will travel to Warsaw to support the goals of the strategic plan’s four pillars: empathy, inclusivity, adaptability and experience, according to a news release Monday from WCS. The school district will welcome Chris Singleton on Thursday.

Singleton is a former professional athlete drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2017. Following the loss of his mother in a racially motivated mass shooting, Chris has now become an inspirational speaker and best-selling author who shares his message of unity and racial reconciliation. He shares with over 50 organizations and over 30,000 students annually and resides with his spouse Mariana, his son CJ, and his younger brother Caleb, who he cares for, in Charleston, S.C.

Singleton was with WCS in January 2019. On Thursday, Singleton will be the keynote speaker. His message of the power of relationships and resilience will be delivered to a student audience in the PAC and livestreamed to secondary classrooms, the news release states. Singleton also will lead discussions and answer questions. After, Singleton will host a workshop to engage students, faculty and community around the goals of the WCS Strategic Plan. To close the day, Singleton will meet with athletes to discuss character development and the power of teammates.

Building on Singleton’s presentation, WCS will welcome two more speakers.

Jonathon Wilkins will present in April. Wilkins is a business leader with a passion to empower others, the news release states.

Charles Person, a Freedom Rider, will join WCS in May.

Warsaw Community Schools will start the new school year in August with the fourth speaker in the series, Dr. Adam Saenz, a licensed psychologist, therapist, author and keynote speaker.

More information on the WCS strategic plan and four pillars can be found on the district’s website at www.warsawschools.org/o/warsaw/page/21-25-strategic-plan.
