SYRACUSE – Wilma A. Cox, 84, of Syracuse, passed away at 2:27 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at her home.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1937, in Essex, Mo., to W.J. and Helen Corlew Crutcher.

She graduated in 1954 from Essex High School and attended Malden College in Missouri. She was married on Jan. 29, 1956, in Essex, Mo., to James H. “Jim” Cox, who survives. She grew up in Missouri and lived in Michigan for six years before moving to the Syracuse area in 1963, where she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in North Webster and attended Wawasee Lakeside Chapel in Syracuse.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Cox, of Syracuse; three daughters: Jenny (Mark) Smith, of Granger; Mary Jane (Mike) Brannock, of Syracuse; and Sara Ann (Ronald) Schwartz, of Fort Wayne; son, Brad (Karen) Cox, of Syracuse; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, June McGhee, of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind. 15, Warsaw. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date in the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel. Burial will take place in the McClintic Cemetery.

Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
