By Staff Report-

SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko Community School Corporation announced its students of the month for February.

Anna Arter – Whitko Jr/Sr School - senior high nominee

Arter is self-motivated while working on art projects. She is a hard worker and strives to do her best. She is very talented and her art pieces showcase her range of abilities. I enjoy her positive attitude and she is easy to pick on, according to a news release from Whitko.

Arter was nominated by teacher Daniel Malicki.

Lillie Sickafoose – Whitko Jr/Sr School – junior high nominee

Sickafoose always does the right thing, even when others are not. She is focused on her academics and works hard, stated the release.

Sickafoose was nominated by teacher Teresa Knepple.

Justine Ocken – Whitko Career Academy

As a student and young adult, Ocken exemplifies what we all need to practice: kindness. She extends a positive, helpful and supportive attitude towards her peers and teachers. Along with this, Justine demonstrates a unique determination to do the best in all she is asked - assignments, projects, class activity and participation. While doing this, she also possesses a keen awareness of those around her who may be needing a kind word and she is not afraid to ask questions and constantly learn from her classroom experiences and those around her. The "soft skills" Justine exhibits will be a great asset to her future endeavors and are currently valued and observed as a successful student at Whitko Career Academy, according to the release.

Ocken was nominated by teacher Kelley Sheiss.

Brian Morgan – South Whitley Elementary School

Morgan is a second-grade student that is a joy to have in class and is a valuable asset to have at South Whitley Elementary School. Morgan is a friend to all and is always willing to help others and include them in all parts of the day. He is an active listener and always enjoys participating in class discussions. Morgan is a dependable student and I can always count on him to do the right thing and make good choices. Thank you Morgan for your all around great attitude and smile you bring to our class, stated the release.

Morgan was nominated by teacher Nicole Berger.

Conrad Bontreger – Pierceton Elementary School

Bontreger has attended Pierceton Elementary School since November and in that short time he has become a great role model for others, has excelled academically, and has made many friends by showing kindness to everyone. He always puts forth his best effort in his work and participates and shares in class. He loves learning and his enthusiasm spreads to others. Bontreger is always helping others whether it's tying a friend's shoe, picking up trash around the school, or assisting a classmate with their school work. He comes to school every day with a smile on his face and a positive attitude. Bontreger's kindness is contagious and he is a joy to have in class, stated the release.

Bontreger was nominated by teacher Julie Klepinger.
