Alejandro Cervantes is the winner of a Western Golf Association's Chick Evans Scholarship.

On Feb. 11, Alejandro Cervantes was awarded an Evans Scholarship to Indiana University. He will pursue biomedical engineering or premed in the fall.

Cervantes has been a caddie for the past four years at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club (TLCC), accomplishing 124 loops. He is a member of the Warsaw Cross Country team, National Honors Society, a regular volunteer at his church and serves as a translator in the Warsaw community. Cervantes is the third Evans Scholar from TLCC to receive the scholarship, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.

This scholarship is a full-tuition and housing college scholarship for golf caddies. Since 1930, more than 11,000 men and women have graduated as Evans Scholars. Most recipients attend one of the 18 universities across the nation where the Evans Scholars Foundation owns and operates a Scholarship House. The state of Indiana supports two houses – Indiana University and Purdue University, stated the release.

This scholarship is the largest privately-funded scholarship program in the country. WGA Directors, Indiana Golf Association member clubs and officials, and individual contributions help support this program in Indiana.
