Anges Pruyn Chapman DAR Met In May

June 25, 2021 at 8:52 p.m.

By Staff Report-

Agnes Pruyn Chapman DAR met at 6 p.m. May 25 at Pizza Hut with 10 members and three guests present.

The speaker was Matt Maher, an Indiana Department of Natural Resource officer.  He is one of four officers assigned to Kosciusko County, which has more DNR officers than any other because of the number of lakes located here. DNR is the oldest state law enforcement agency. These officers have the same authority as any other law enforcement agency. They also are the only law enforcement officers required to have a college degree.

Regent Kathy Gawthrop opened the business meeting by leading us in the DAR opening ritual, the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and the recitation of the American’s Creed and Preamble to the Constitution.

DAR’s new members, Connie Schlag and Janice Engelberth, were given the DAR oath of membership by Chaplain Janet Kirkpatrick.

The secretary’s report was given by Susan Creamer and approved as read.  Janice Cox gave the treasurer’s report. The new balance is $3687.07.  It was approved and filed for audit.   Gawthrop and Susan Creamer volunteered to be on the audit committee this year. Gawthrop will contact Peggy Burger about taking over the Good Citizen contest.

Gawthrop will be taking items this week to Goodwill for the Veteran Stand Down.

The Sept. 28 meeting will be at the First Methodist Church, Warsaw, at noon. Members are to bring their own lunch. The program will be a Pearl Harbor presentation given by middle school students.

Dues statements will be sent out this summer and are due by the September meeting.  DAR hasn’t received any notice yet from the national or state chapter on what the dues will be for the coming year.

The meeting was adjourned.
