AKRON – Audrey E. Griffis, 83, of Burket, passed at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Mason Health Care of Warsaw.

Audrey was born on Oct. 2, 1937, in Warsaw, to the late Arnold and Clarabel Carey Flory. She was married on Dec. 10, 1955, in Bourbon, to Bill G. Griffis, who preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2010.

She was a Tippecanoe High School graduate. Audrey was a quality controller inspector for Blue Bell in Warsaw. She then worked for Uniroyal in Warsaw, where she was the first woman employed. She retired from there after over 20 years. After retiring, she worked part-time for the post office in Burket. She loved sewing, crafting and quilting. She enjoyed Goodwill and was a loyal customer.

Audrey is survived by her son, Brad and wife Judy Griffis, of Akron; grandchildren: Damien Shriver, Jackie Apt, Billi Griffis and Tanner Griffis; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Lorraine and husband Tom DeVros, of Tippecanoe; and brothers: Jerry and wife Glenda Flory, of Tippecanoe; and Duane and wife Kathy Flory, of Tippecanoe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; siblings: Anita Crawford, Rose Walters, Lewis Flory, Douglas Flory, Doyle Flory.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10 in the Summit Chapel Cemetery on Ind. 10 near Bourbon.

The arrangements have been entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
