Tippecanoe Valley Approves New Hires

Tippecanoe Valley High School Principal Brandon Kresca introduced Tricia Sederholm, who was hired to be a science teacher at TVHS.
Kresca said Sederholm has held several different positions teaching science. Most recently, she’s taught science at Edgewood Middle School and also finished the year teaching online. Kresca said she’s excited to get back into the classroom. Sederholm will be teaching chemistry and physics at the high school.
Kresca then introduced Thomas Boys, who was approved as the choir teacher at TVHS. Boys’ most recent employment was as choral director at the First United Methodist Church in Plymouth. Boys has also directed the Argos High School theater and musicals for the past five years. This will be Boys’ first official teaching job. Kresca said Boys is excited to get started.
Kresca then introduced Nicholas Price, who was hired as a physical education and strength and conditioning coach at TVHS. Price’s most recent work is as an exercise psychologist. Price has assisted with physical therapy and worked with patients on strengthening. Price also has experience as a assistant football coach and intern in Logansport.
Kresca then introduced Hope Slagle, who was approved as an agriculture teacher at TVHS. Slagle graduated from Purdue and came “very highly recommended.” She completed her internship at Seamor High School and a few other schools.
Akron Elementary School Principal Scott Sterk introduced Courtney Dunham, who was approved as a fifth-grade teacher at Akron Elementary. Sterk said Dunham is a Grace College graduate and has three children. One of the places she’s worked was Presby Preschool.
Meaghan Wilks, director of special services, introduced Cate Smith, who was approved as a speech language pathologist at Mentone Elementary School. Wilks said Smith has had 18 years of experience working at schools with students with speech and language needs. Wilks said Smith is going to work with pre-kindergarten through third grade. Wilks said she’s really excited to have Smith’s experience.
Marc Green, who was approved to be a sixth-grade science teacher at Tippecanoe Valley Middle School, introduced himself to the Board. Green said for the past three years, he’s taught at a school on the west side of South Bend.
In other business, the Board:
• Approved the resignation of Joel Grindle, assistant principal at TVHS.
• Learned the high school building project will proceed into a detailed planning phase.
Superintendent Blaine Conley said the phase will occur over the next couple of months and quotes will go out to bid.
