Warsaw Schools Encouraging Parents To Register Their Children

Due to some specific human resource-related issues, Hoffert said parents need to make sure to register their students for the school year. The school corporation needs those numbers so the corporation knows how to place teachers correctly in schools.
Not having students registered could also affect bus routes, Hoffert said.
He did not specify how much of the student population had already been registered for the 2021-22 school year as of Wednesday.
Returning students can be registered through the PowerSchool Parent Portal at https://warsawschools.powerschool.com/public/.
Hoffert said if parents are having issues registering their child, he recommended they call the central office at 574-371-5098.
According to WCS’ website, a student who initially enrolls in one of the Warsaw’s schools is required to provide: (1) evidence of immunizations; (2) the name and address of the school the student last attended, if any; (3) a certified copy of the student’s birth certificate or other reliable proof of the student’s date of birth; and (4) transcript (secondary level only).
“That is a huge push that we have here,” Hoffert said.
In other business, the Board:
• Approved changes to the staff, administrative and student handbooks. The principal’s pages have all been updated. Two new sections have been added, which include sections about exit interviews and social media.
• Approved the separations of Terry Roe, Brett Eberly, Amanda Nine and Matthew Barrett as assistant principals at Warsaw Community High School.
• Approved the transfer of Joshua Wall from being an instructional coach at Washington STEM Academy to the position as principal at Jefferson Elementary.
• Approved the transfers of Michelle White to the assistant principal at Lakeview Middle School, Leah Sprunger from science teacher to assistant principal at WCHS and Tim Devlin from social science teacher at Edgewood Middle School to assistant principal at WCHS.
• Approved a quote for six new desks and chairs at Edgewood from Pulver Cove Associates for $21,703.50.
• Approved a quote for seven new cafeteria tables at Edgewood from Sourcewell for $72,101.20.
• Learned the rubber for the gym at Jefferson Elementary has been laid down.
Director of Maintenance Jim LeMasters said by the end of the weekend, it should be glued and nailed down.
• Learned whiteboards will be installed Friday at Lakeview Middle School.
• Learned the parking lots are being sealed and striped.
• Learned Tools for Schools will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds.
