AKRON – The Akron 4th of July Committee shared the Akron Church of God, Akron United Methodist Church and the Casa de Renovacion have joined together to host an Akron Community Church gathering on Sunday  at 10:30 a.m. in the Akron Pike Memorial Park.  Everyone is welcome.

The Community Church gathering’s theme of the service is titled “Together, We Rise.”  The heart behind the theme is honoring the past and what adversity the 47 Akron settlers faced 185 years ago as they formed the community and the adversity the community has faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This service will honor all that was lost over the last 16 months in this community and this service will also inspire the community to start again stronger than ever with the pioneering spirit of settlers.

The service will include a welcome, worship music, historical lesson of  Akron - Our Story, an offering for our local churches, the Together, We Rise message and culminates with the planting of a tree in the park to commemorate our commitment to look at this tree and remember this day of coming back together.

For any questions regarding this gathering or any Akron Fourth of July events, contact Lori Tilden-Geiger at 574-527-3000.
