MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Grace’s women’s basketball team trailed by as many as 17 before rallying to an 89-83 victory over Bethel on Saturday.

Kyannah Stull scored a game-high 24 points to lead Grace, adding six steals and three assists.

Grace completed a memorable comeback after a forgettable first-half performance.

The Pilots (4-14, 0-11 Crossroads League) scored the first six points of the game and held Grace scoreless for the first two minutes.

Midway into the first quarter, Grace already trailed by 10 at 13-3. Grace’s offense jumped to life over the final minutes of the quarter; Kyannah Stull tallied eight points in the period, and Kamryn Hostetler added seven.

Bethel continued to maintain its lead, however. The Pilots began the second quarter strong again, scoring the first nine points to open up a 17-point lead (the largest of the game).

The Lady Lancers (11-12, 2-11 CL) did their best to battle back, chipping the lead down to 47-36 by halftime.

Grace only shot 38 percent as a team in the half, including a woeful 1 of 13 (8 percent) from the 3-point line. Bethel, on the other hand, made 53 percent of its field goals and 50 percent (9 of 18) from downtown.

The Lady Lancers continued to slice into Bethel’s cushion in the third quarter. Maddie Ryman scored the last four points of the quarter for Grace, bringing the Lady Lancers to within three at 62-59.

Ryman began the fourth quarter with a triple to tie the game, and Kaylee Patton gave Grace its first lead of the game from the free throw line.

The game flipped Grace’s direction over the next three minutes. The Lady Lancers scored 13 unanswered points, capturing an 84-74 lead with 2:40 on the clock.

Ryman and Hostetler started the run with back-to-back 3-pointers, Kaylie Warble added four points, and Kiersten Poor converted an and-1.

The Pilots refused to fade quietly, however. Grace was unable to put the game away on offense, allowing the Pilots to rally to within two at 85-83 with less than 30 seconds remaining.
