WABASH – The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) was involved in a police officer-involved shooting Thursday evening that resulted in one dead, one injured and two arrested in Wabash.

No officers were hurt.

According to news releases from the Indiana State Police, the ISP is investigating the shooting.

The preliminary investigation by ISP detectives revealed that at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, officers from the KCSO SWAT served a search warrant at 63 E. Main St., apt. 3, Wabash. After officers made entry into the residence, there was an exchange of gunfire between law enforcement and the occupant(s) inside.

Two people inside the home appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds. Roger D. Hipskind, 37, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the ISP news releases Friday. A 35-year-old women was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital. No officers were injured. It has yet to be determined if Hipskind died from an officer’s bullet or from a self-inflicted gunshot. An autopsy will be conducted.

Gabrielle Bolin, 26, and Curt Bolin, 31, both from Wabash, were also in the residence. Further investigation revealed they were both wanted on multiple arrest warrants. Gabrielle was wanted on failure to appear warrants for possession of a narcotic and theft. Curt was wanted on failure to appear warrants for resisting law enforcement, theft and possession of a narcotic. They were taken into custody and incarcerated in the Wabash County Jail.

The KCSO served the search warrant as part of a criminal investigation conducted by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department.

This is an ongoing investigation. No further information was released as of press time.

Upon completion of the investigation, information will be forwarded to the Wabash County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
