Whitko Schools Announced Its January Students Of The Month

SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko Community School Corporation announced its January students of the month. They are:

• Kaitlyn Hamilton – Whitko Jr./Sr. School - senior high nominee

Hamilton has done a great job of maintaining an A average in all her classes this semester while on distance learning, according to a news release from WCSC.

Hamilton was nominated by teacher Byron Osborn.

• Guy Howard – Whitko Jr./Sr. School – junior high nominee

Howard is an excellent student. He’s conscientious and thorough and participates in class and has a willingness to assist others in need.

Howard was nominated by teacher Mike Hanback, stated the release.

• DameAnna Hurd – Whitko Career Academy

Hurd has really stepped forth her effort in Culinary Arts this month, stated the release. She has stepped into confidence in making and taking a lead in the kitchen. She is blooming as a chef in culinary arts, and I could not be more proud of her. She is an exceptional young lady with so much potential and she keeps the classroom and kitchen fun and exciting as well. Hurd was nominated by teacher Mallery Pierce.

• Jay Brown – South Whitley Elementary School

Brown is a third-grader that does an outstanding job of being an excellent student in class. He is very conscientious and gives his personal best in the classroom. He loves to be challenged and perseveres with his work. He is a self-directed learner as he will research to find out answers on his own to concepts. He will often go above and beyond what is expected.

Jay is also very polite and respectful to his peers and adults. He listens, helps, and works well with his classmates. He sets an excellent example of being a leader with his actions to the students at South Whitley Elementary. Brownwas nominated by teacher Jane Trump, stated the release.

• Mason Rodgers – Pierceton Elementary School

Rodgers is a great student to have in class, stated the release. He is always on task and is a great listener to others as they share.

Rodgers loves to have a good time, but knows when to rein it in and pay attention. He is a great friend to everyone in our classroom and is quick to make sure no one feels left out. He has a kind heart and always strives to do the right thing.

Mason was nominated by teacher Lindsay Moseley.

Breakfast Optimists Donate To Spooktacular
Recently, the Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club donated $500 to the Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce to support Spooktacular, which will be held in downtown Warsaw from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25.
