Jim was born April 25, 1954, in Warsaw, to Herbert “Bud” and Myrtle Kinsey Felkner.
Jim served the community as a law enforcement officer. He began his career with the North Webster Police Department, eventually serving as chief. He transferred to the Syracuse Police Department, where he earned the rank of sergeant before a stroke forced his retirement. Jim had a love for firearms from an early age, which led him to being the firearms instructor for the police department. Jim was a caring individual but took life seriously and devoted everything to serving. He loved his sister and niece and enjoyed picking on them.
Jim is survived by his sister, Joanie Sparks, of Milford; a niece, Stacie (Todd) Isaacs, of Virginia; a great-nephew, Lincoln Felkner Isaacs; and a great-niece, Delilah Anne Isaacs. Also surviving are his extended family: Greg (Cheryl) Robertson, of Kingman, Ariz.; and Hannah Robertson and Zachary Robertson, also of Kingman, Ariz.; along with Rosa Karleen Sanford, Michael (Sue) Felkner, Bryan (Kristi) Felkner, Todd (Sherry) Felkner, all of Fort Wayne; and Dawn (Felkner) (John) Strassle, of Auburn; and dear friend, David (Gay Ann) McKay, of Bristol.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Felkner Cemetery.
Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Milford, was entrusted with Jim’s care.
