A Claypool man was sentenced Tuesday to 293 months in prison for receiving child pornography.

According to a news release from Acting United States Attorney Gary T. Bell, Kenneth Hyatt, 53, of Claypool, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty to 293 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. Hyatt also was ordered to pay $14,930 in restitution, according to Bell.

According to documents filed in the case, Hyatt uploaded 65 images of child pornography to his Dropbox account that depicted children under the age of 12 participating in bondage or sadistic conduct. Hyatt was found to be in possession of at least 143 total images of child pornography.

According to court records, Hyatt was released from prison for a state conviction of possession of child pornography six months prior.

The case for which Hyatt was recently sentenced was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations and the Indiana State Police and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John M. Maciejczyk. According to local records, Hyatt was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on April 11, 2019, for the charges.
